CALL FOR BACKUP!!!

Last night I was chased by the police, that's right, a high speed chase. It all started around 10 o'clock. My friend, Kobi and I were cruising around. The rest of our friends were bowling, we were simply waiting for them to finish. We don't bowl. I don't pay money to stick my feet in shoes that someone (who I don't know their hygiene habits) has put their feet in, then continue to humiliate myself by gutterballin it every time at bowl. Caitlin if you ever want free ice cream just invite Kobi and I to bowl. Moving on. We have our little route that we take every time we go for drives. (which is often because we don't have friends) There is a skate park that we like to stalk to see if there are any hotties boarding that we can stare at for one brief moment as we drive by.The skate park is located (and I am terrible with directions so this is probably not going to be accurate at all) where 12th west turns into boy scout drive, for those of you familiar with Rose Park. For those of you who are not, this skate park is located at the end of a street where it turns into a very creepy, secluded road. There are no houses, the weeds on both side of the road are as high as your car door. Creepy. But once you are past the skate park you are committed to drive through, unless you want to look like a queer and turn around and drive right past the skaters you just holla'd at. No thanks. So we drove on, windows up, doors locked and as fast as the speed limit would allow, 25 mph. Ok I have to side track one more time, sorry. I was driving my papa's Subaru, I was wearing a little black dress with leggings and a braid in my hair. Kobi was my co-captain, sporting a cute little zip up hoodie, lil' diamond earrings and her bob hair cut, and I believe we were jammin to, Every Time We Touch by Cascada. So as I was pulling out my signature dance move I see headlights in the rear view mirror. Very unusual and even more creepy. We double checked the locks. The lights were gaining on us, I freak out very quickly and always assume the worst. I knew that some crazed serial killer, rapist had been following us, and knew that now was his chance! I kept my head about me and remembered that policeman lurked in this area all the time to catch people like our stalker.....and speeders. Just as that thought ran across my mind his rollers started to flash behind me, it was an officer. I wasn't speeding, swerving, drinking, disturbing the peace. There could be no reason to pull me over. I thought back to drivers ed 101, and recalled that if you are in a secluded dark area alone (and I may as well had been, at the sight of danger Kobi would leave me for dead, she has before) you should drive to a public street with more traffic especially if you are a young woman. My father had told me about this as well. So that's what I did, dropped my speed to 23 mph and stayed very far right. Two seconds later his spot light came on, 8 seconds after that his sirens were waking up the neighbors, well they would have if there would have been neighbors to wake up. Finally after what felt like hours Redwood Road was in sight I pulled over and stopped the car. The police officer, D. Austill approached the vehicle slowly, stealth mode, and at a safe distance, with his flash light.

Officer D. Austill: "HANDS ON THE WHEEL!"

Me: "Mmm kay"

while putting my hands up

Officer D. Austill: "Do you want to explain to me why it took you 500 yards to stop?"

Me: "Yes, I was driving to a more public street officer."

Officer D. Austill: "Why?"

Me: I explained to him my reasoning, but left out that he could very well be a crooked cop.

Officer D Austill: "That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard!"

Me: "I was just being safe, that's what they told us to do."

Officer D. Austill: "Who is they?"

Me: "My drivers ed teacher...... and my father."

Officer D. Austill: "That is the worst advice I've ever heard! Look at that car" (pointing to his police cruiser) "that would be pretty hard to duplicate don't you think?!"

Kobi and I stared at each other.

Kobi:...."Ummmm not really."

Me: "Yeah, there have been cases of this before."

Officer D. Austill: "Give me your license." takes it. "I hope you realize that I was just pulling you over for your headlight that is out but now we have some serious issues! Do you realize I was about to call for backup for a pursuit?!"

Me: "No."

Officer D. Austill" " I was" leaves for his car

comes back 8 minutes later

"let me give you some advice, stop next time. If the car would have been unmarked with one light then that would have been fine, but look at it."

Me: "Ok....thanks"

Officer D. Austill: "Let your dad know about the headlight."

Me: "I will."

Officer D. Austill: giving me my license back and hitting the edge of the window, "Be Safe."

THAT IS WHAT I WAS DOING OFFICER D. AUSTILL!!! And what about those "serious issues"? That's right! Because there were none! What was he going to report? Two white girls in a subaru going 23 mph, getting to a safe road to avoid being found by the Jordan River in the morning? Has he not heard about the cases of freaks stealing police cars? Hello Officer D. Austill, when other officers come to lecture about safety at school they teach this very thing. What a jerk. I had Kobi hop out and take a picture.

"I HAVE A VOICEMAIL FROM TOBY!"...... oh and happy birthday to Meg!

Meg turned the big one four today, I can't believe it. In some ways I always think she's older than 14, mostly because she spells waaayyyy better than I do. But also because she is so mature and lovely for her age. I've never met a 14 year old who thinks and ponders the way Meg does. She is not your typical Bryant jr. high chica, giggly, boy crazy, loud and........stupid, which is why it surprised me when her 13 girlfriends showed up on our doorstep for her birthday partay slumber party. I try to be a "cool" big sister........ I failed. I took Cafe Rio to her school at lunch and sat in the cafeteria. All I was able to keep thinking was hand sanitizer, hand sanitizer. (thanks mom for passing that on to me) I sat outside and devoured pizza. While on my 5th or 6th piece (the corners of my mouth, the front of my shirt, and the ends of my sleeves caked in tomato sauce ) I tore my attention away from my delicious meal to be part of their conversation, which was about counting calories and carbs and anorexia. I wanted to vomit, not to fit in, but because these girls are 13, what a sad world. Meg must have been equally confused because when I looked over she had remnants of pepperoni on her face and the same puzzled expression I'm sure I had. Anyone could have walked in and would have known we were the two related. Meg also invited her 4 guy friends, one of which has a crush on her. All night long they were egging on this romance. At the skating rink they wanted them to hold hands, while on the couch wanting him to practically sit on her lap, telling him to just "plant one on her." So failing once again, I glared at them with a glare that would sizzle their insides. This glare I learned from my mother. I than went on to lecture them that Meg would make these decisions for herself and that, unlike some of them, she didn't need someone to think for her. This got the response of,'"Geez Meg, your sister is a happy person!" Meg just continued to eat her pizza. I don't ever remember hugging in jr high the way these little ones do. They were constantly whining for hugs from 3 of the boys (the other unfortunate boy, not so much) Every 15 seconds ONE of them would be all over ALL of them. Maybe this is why I am manless, maybe these young ones just get it, I should have paid better attention. The night began to come to a close and the boys were packing up to leave. You would have thought it was the boys party by the amount of attention they were getting. So they were saying their goodbyes and hugging.....again. I could have sworn there were tears in the girls eyes, all of them but Meg's. At this point I kissed my baby sister goodnight, probably another not cool thing to do, and escaped to my room for bed. Even being a whole floor away, with my door closed (actually it's not a door, it is a piece of wood I prop in front of the door frame to block light and noice) and the fan on, I could still her them. Toby this and Griffin that. These girls were obsessed. I smashed my pillow over my face, leaving a hole for me to breath, because I panic if I dont have fresh air to breath, and finally drifted of into an annoyed slumber at 3 AM. 7:45........ "TOBY LEFT ME A VOICE MAIL! heheheheh" "LIKE OMG REALLY?" all of this right outside my piece of wood. I hauled my body out of my room and into the hall, drool on my face, hair tangled, and glared. Meg looked exactly the same. This is why Meg and I are going to be fine, we are going to get along great. SO here I sit at 10:43. Pizza and leftover chocolate cake in my lap, the party ends in 17 minutes and all will be right at home. Thanks you mom and dad for raising us, thank you Meg for not counting calories with me. I love you, happy bithday to you!
Dancing, take note Meg and I aren't in this photo.
This is what the party consisted of for me.

Take Another Road

I kind of updated my blog several days ago, I just changed the back ground and that was all. No big deal. I came home from work the next day and sat down at the table to eat my favorite after work meal, spegettios. Papa came up from his office and said, "sis I like your new blog" then went back down to work. He was the only one to comment on the new update. When I showed my mom my background I told her that dad was the first, and only one to say anything about it. She simply stated, "He checks your blogs everyday." I've been thinking about my dad a lot lately. I recently went to Idaho with some friends a couple of weekends ago, and because they have terrible taste in music I brought along all of my mix CDs. We were driving home on Sunday, it was late and we were tired. The girl was in the back seat sleeping, the other was driving, and I was sitting quietly in the front seat. A familiar tune started to play, Jimmy Buffett's Take Another Road. I love this song, it has always been my favorite. Jimmy Buffett is wild and crazy, and most of his songs are rather ridiculous, but every now and then he can write something that really sings to the soul. This song is one of those. As it played I stared out the window and up at the stars. At that moment memories of the many road trips my family has taken began to swirl through my memory. I've never been one to sleep on road trips, I must have gotten that from my dad, because 23 minutes into any driving vacation my mom is zonked, head back, mouth open sleeping. My dad is the perfect DJ on road trips. He plays all of our favorites, the Beatles, KC, Jackson Browne, Jack Johnson, our Uber Fly Musica Mix, and then winds it down with good ol' James. It is somewhere between Frozen Man and September Grass that Haylie and Meg fall asleep. Meg in the middle with her head in Haylies Lap and her feet in mine, head back, mouth open. And Haylie behind my mom with her squishy blue pillow rolled up and tucked between the seatbelt and window, head back, mouth open. And then there's me, behind dad, the two of us silent so we dont wake our sleeping beauties. It has always been like this, for 18 years. But my favorite part of this all is when Papa is certain they're all asleep and Baby James is done playing, dad will pop in Jimmy Buffet, skip to my favorite song, look in the rear view mirror and quietly whisper, "Sis, ya alright?" "Yep" is all I've ever had to say, because at that moment I am perfectly content. There is no need for chit chat or joking, just that one question and then the quiet drive ahead of us. As I was looking at the stars I thought of the countless nights that my dad and I have soaked in the hot tub, while he taught me the names of the constellations and the history and stories behind them. These are the moments I will treasure the most, the quiet and peaceful moments with just me and my dad, when I didn't have to share him with anyone.

One, Two, Three...NOT IT!!!

So I refuse to play this love tag game, mostly because it will just make me depressed because of the lack of lovin I have going on in my life. However what I will say is that I hope someday I will be as in love as my parents are with each other! These are the men that I would settle for!:

Someone Just like him.

Senior and the Beans

Time for an update on riveting life. Senior year is winding down, i can hardly believe it! I would never admit this to my mother but I'm actually starting to freak out. Come June 6th I'll have to grow up and I don't think I'm quite ready for such responsibility. I love being 17 and immature. Once in college we'll never be able to sneak through the halls, think of ridiculous and overused excuses as to why we aren't in class and hide from security officers on days when going to choir or cooking just isn't an option. Being able to walk out the doors and lay on the south lawn after a hard day of cooking, choir and seminary will never happen again and I am a bit sad about that. I'm just barely starting to appreciate being a teenager, in high school and the things you can get away with because of it, and now its over! College will be cool but I wish I would have appreciated high school while it lasted. The family is gooood, however I'm on the verge of murdering one of them. Our house is NEVER quiet, not for one moment. Mom will be blending something in the kitchen, dad will be yelling at Wrigley for whatever thing she has broken, torn apart or ruined, Haylie will have the blow dryer on, or Meg will be playing her sax, piano, a combination of both, or singing. Naps are few around here because of it. I'm trying to love our Wrigley Beans, I really am, however I honestly don't think I'll love her like Pupcake. Reasons why:
Pupcake never tore my flesh apart.
Pupcake always came when she was called unlike Wrigley who never comes when she is called.
Pupcake never barked incessantly.
Taking Pupcake out to relieve herself was never a 37 minute event.
Pupcake never completely humiliated me by dragging out some of my lovely lady undergarments when the home teachers were over (or whoever was visiting)
Pupcake didn't chew so loudly I wanted to kick her in the chops.
I always think that by spending time with her it would increase my affection for her but by the end of the walk I'm sick to death of the biting at the ankles, the pant leg, her leash, my ankle, my hands, my ankles, my face, more ankles. However when she comes and says good morning with her huge snarly smile I some how forget what a horrendous beast she can be.

I've already told you momma!

Mom-
All your nagging about updating my blog has led to this....as I stated in my first blog entry....I have nothing to write about. This blog spot was a bad idea. You see I am not a newlywed, so in love I can write about our day to day adventures,(cough, cough, Caitlin and Brinton) I do not have a absolutely beautiful and perfect baby bug to inform the world about. And mom, I don't have 3 daughters, one in particular that is especially amazing and wonderful, that the whole fam damnly wants to hear about. Also YOU don't allow me to go on wee lil' trips with my friends, those would provide perfect opportunities and memories to blog about. But if it will make you happy I will go on a date or something with the girls and take pictures and force them to have fun so that I then can in turn blog about it. =) OR when Cod, Tweet and us three have our girls night I will blog about it, IF they promise not to too, there's no point in restating what has been said. I would look like a queer. I love you!!!!
Love

P.S AMAZING BREAKFY!!! yummy.

Nueve York

I thought that I would start off the blog with something I did that was actually interesting. Christmas 2006, my friend and I journeyed to the big apple. It was simply amazing. We got off airplane, got our luggage and headed to the curb to wave down a taxi. As we approached the line of people, who like us were waiting for a ride, two woman right in front of us went at it and nearly shed blood fighting for a taxi. At this moment I realized that i love New York. There is something about the hustle and bustle of the city that never sleeps that I yearned to be a part of. The city is amazing so rich of history, culture, and character. the picture above is the first sight that I saw of Times Square. we rounded the corner and my jaw hit the pavement. I grabbed Bekah and we took a picture to capture the moment. The hilarious thing about this picture is that the Loon that is holding bunny ears is a complete stranger. We didn't see him before or after the picture was taken. I did so much in New York, I could dedicate an entire blog to writing about it. I won't but I will just point out the highlights of the trip. The memory that stands out the most is one that makes me laugh out loud every time I think about it. Bekah and I were walking down the street, minding our own business when out of nowhere a man (That was without a doubt the gayest man I've ever seen) popped out of nowhere, linked arms with us and walked with us down the street. I was baffled. I got so nervous I had no idea what to do. Just let him do it? Beat the living crap out of him? Bekah and I exchanged many nervous glances at each other, him, and then each other before I awkwardly spit out "Hi." He walked on with us telling us what pretty girls we were, then out of nowhere he announced(quite proudly) that he was a GUGolo. We asked him if he meant gigolo. His response was what made this story. He said "Ah haha a gugulo is a gigolo honey!"All three of us laughed out loud and then Bekah and I unlinked from him and walked as fast as we could in the opposite direction. We went to the ballet, The Nutcracker. It was here that I realized that my body is a complete waste of space. It was amazing, there were 4 yr. old children out on the stage dancing their little hearts out. I loved it. On new years eve Bekahs's uncle took us to times square. We left many hours before the clock stuck midnight and we still didn't even get into the square. We did however get to stand on the street just outside the main event was happening. I've never been so claustrophobic in my life! There was an estimated 1,000,000 people in Times Square alone, and even more on the outside streets where we stood. I swear people were standing right on top of me. We had heard stories of the romantic new years kiss that occurs on this night in this beautiful place so my friend and I had it all planned out. It was here that we would meet our one true love. When the ball dropped that man would push his way to through the crowd to grab us in his arms and give us that kiss that would forever changed our lives....short and sweet this did not happen. Every one there seemed to have remembered to bring their significant other that night, so while everyone else there enjoyed that long awaited smooch...I got mine from Bekah. On a happier note, the streets were so crammed that for about 47 glorious minutes I was pushed up against a GORGEOUS man who just so happened to be French!!! Who needs a new years kiss after that?? Not me. Being me I called my family wishing them a happy new year...forgetting the time change...it was only 10:00 for them. I'm sure they still appreciated it. My favorite night however was not one spent roaming the streets, or at an event. Nope, it was spent trapped in the Elevator for several hours with Bekah. Was the elevator stuck in between floors or filled with lots of people? Noooooo, it was just Bekah and I with the elevator stuck on the main floor. The logical thing to do would have been to whip out our cell phones and call for help, but we were in no rush....actually to be honest we didn't think of it at first. So what did we do for those several hours...? Took pictures of course! Here are a few. The one above was the first of many. I hate having my picture taken with a passion! I don't know what it is but I could be looking my best one day and someone could snap a picture of it and I simply look like a warthog. So the logical thing to do in this case was to lay down and take a picture of my feet of course!!! What else. So the picture below.. I have no explanation other than I was a sixteen year old girl stuck in an elevator.
Okay moving on in this wild story of my favorite night. We did finally get out. We got up to our apartment and decided that we wanted to watch a movie. What would a movie be without snacks? So back down we went (we took the stairs) to our favorite corner market to pick up chips, cookie dough, and ice cream. We went back home and plugged in a movie, but of course after we made our skin silky smooth by applying our lovely face masks. All in all it was quite an adventurous night. Another fine night Bekah and I ventured to Times Square together to just have a look at that beautiful city. When I look at the pictures I am still in awe that I was actually there. While walking down the street you are constantly attacked by people trying to sell you clothes, jewelry, you name it they're selling it. Usually a simple "no thanks" will shake them right of. However one man was bound and determined to sell his CD to us. He was a "raising artist" he told us. He said that his lyrics were amazing and that someday we could say "I knew him even before he was known across the world." In short we bought a CD. That was longer then a year ago...Have you heard of him??? One of the more touching things that we did was going to Ground Zero. It truly was devastating. 911 never seemed as real as standing there looking at the destruction and heartache that was left behind. One of bekah's uncles works in a ridiculously tall building right across the street from Ground Zero. We went up to the top of the building and were able to look right down into Ground Zero. When we were back on the ground they allow you to walk around around the perimeter of the Reconstruction. It was truly heartbreaking. People would write on the walls names of people they knew who were killed or other remarks about remembering 911. I really started to cry when I looked through the gate and into the rebuilding area . Amongst all the wreckage and destruction there was our flag . Still waving. It touched my heart not only for those who lost their lives that day , those who continue to risk their lives each day for us,but it also reminded me of grandpa and how proud he was of this country and how much he loved it.The list of things that I did, saw, heard, felt and experienced while in New York could go on forever! Every time a scene from a movie that was filmed in NYC is playing on our TV, I get as excited as I had the time before as I announce to my family that "I've been there! I was standing RIGHT THERE!!!" I'm sure that they are tired of hearing it, but I'll never get tired of saying it!
